Default Re: Protools feeling very tired on my machine

it is like a slow attrition on my machine tho, a month ago these sessions runnning fine, along with video being run on the same machine ( video syn5 by MMC ) then that starts struggling, realise I can try running it on my old 2013 mac mini usng satellite..

now a few weeks later I'm getting CPU hits on small sessions , havent loaded foley or SFX in yet

I just removed Youlean from the session, I will have to go thru the plug in, but havent had a heap of time free.

Any opinions on doing these session on a M1 MBP?

cheers

2022.10 has been great for me on a fat 2019 Intel MBP running Monterey and more recently Vista. The MBP itself has gone through some "tired" issues of it's own along the lines of what I mentioned before that started back in Big Sur timeframes.

But if you are still chasing problems why not leave it alone for a while and see if you have them sorted out before making other changes?

If your internal drive is an SSD has it grown past 90% full? If so maybe reclaim some space. They can really slow down as they approach capacity. It happened to my trashcan a couple years ago and after parsing about 100GB it sparked back to life. There was an immediate improvement but it continued to get peppier over the next couple days.

I use Frame quite a bit in Safari but I try to close it when I'm not actively uploading or downloading. Also if I'm downloading more than one file I'll use the Frame app. I'm not too fond of loading site-specific apps on my machine and this one is very very bare bones. But it is fast and respects folder structures.

I actually don't remember getting the "site using energy" warning on Frame. Definitely with other file sharing sites.

I spent hours on frame, as client likes to comment and request change on there , and we're supposed to mark whats done, or what we cant nor need etc.

Its ok below say 100 comments. but this last one was over 300 comments ( also for VFX colour etc ) and it became glacial.

I tend to use the frame app for uploads as it handles the files sizes better

We recently experienced slowing down our PT machines, one of them is Mac mini. At the moment we cut completely any external internet connection from both and looks like it helps
