Remote 002 via fiber OPTIC, not fiber channel...
I originally posted this with a question that probably made no sense. So I'm posting a result for y'all, as I tested a fiber optic FW extender with an 002 system.
Used the FireNEX800 by Newnex - capable of extending FW up to 1000 meters/3200 feet. Running PTLE 6.9 on iBook G4 933 with 80G/7200 rpm EZQuest FW400 drive. All connections are FW400 in PT/iBook/002, connections to and from extender are FW800, so I used FW400 - to FW800 converter cables. Ran a session - can't remember specifics, but I wrote automation multiple times, added/pulled plugs on multiple tracks, wrote plug automation with no problems whatsoever. iBook FW400>EZQuest HD FW400>FireNEX800 send>FireNEX800 receive>Digi OO2. Sweetness. Will be doing more tests - results to come.
