There is no such thing. PT 8.5 is a special version that came with HDN hardware bought before PT9 was released

Win XP, 2002. Eighteen years?!
Mbox mini? About the same age?!
And an old weak computer.
I'm sorry, you simply have no options.
Except to start from scratch, with both new hardware and new software.

"Need to go to the next level"?
What does that mean?
What do you need?
What kind of stuff do you typically do w/PT8?
What would you like to do that you can't do now?

Hi Stuart,
Only option to upgrade is to purchase a Perpetual license or a subscription license. You can purchase this at https://www.avid.com/audio-recording-software or through authorized Avid resellers.

To Ben Jansen, yes its that old but it works for me, until now, where my computer is starting to fail....

So i thought i could go to pro tools 9, but apparently not, it seems i go straight to 12 or latest version with a license......

So i will look for a windows computer that will allow me to buy pro tools 12 and learn that......

Mostly midi music and vocals is what we use it for.....thank you for pointing me in the right direction...

For 600 usd you get a perpetual license (With upgrades for a year) that works for 10, 11, 12 and latest current versions.
With a subscription you pay monthly or yearly, and it works only for current version, no 10, 11,12.
With version 10 you can get away with a cheaper hardware, PT2020 needs more power.
You'll have to do the resarch and decide what's best for you.

Oh yes!
I was actually pretty amazed how good the little 2i2 sounded when I got it. Low cost consumer stuff is in a different class now compared to 10+ years ago.
