Default PT 12.8 Slow to Launch

I am finding PT12.8 incredibly slow to launch after restarting my Mac, anybody else?

I updated to Sierra 12.5, ran PT Prefs and deleted the relevant files and then updated from PT12.7.1 to PT12.8. I have since deleted both Cloud Services and Application Manager.

When first launching PT12.8 I noticed it was not responding and Forced Quit.
I then launched again and walked away for around 20 minutes, on my return it had started.
Sessions loaded and all seems just fine.

If I then close PT and relaunch it will open perfectly, but restart the computer and again it takes some 20 minutes to start.... while showing "not responding" in the Force Quit window.

Computer is an iMac 3.2GHz Intel Core I5 with 16Gb RAM.
The only Peripherals are Artist Mix and MBox Mini.

Hi, welcome to the community.

One problem for bad performance could be the i5 processor (should be i7 cpu) but I don't think this is because of that. PT caches plugins in some way that is unclear to me, but if startup is slow it's most likely it. So try to move all plugins away from the plugins folder and let PT copy the fresh versions there on next launch. Then move 3rd party plugins back and see if it helps.

Aaaaargh

That is my also problem.
I never waited 20 minutes to let protools load.
I force quit several times, did the the normal pref stuff and so on
Gave up on fryday morning and went back to 12.7.1 which runs perfect

Maybe I have time to give a try on monday.

I never ever hat such a problem with protools installs.

Ale

Same here... Problem seems to be the workspace file. As soon as I delete it, it starts up fine, after moving it back, it takes 20 minutes, you only see a black PT startup window or "initializing databases...."

The problem does seem to be Workspace related.
I have deleted the Workspace files and created a new catalogue which is strangely only 40% the size of the deleted file.
After restart PT now takes 5 minutes to launch (better than 20mins!!) It still says it's "not responding" but a check of Activity Monitor showed it was in fact doing something.

Mighty frustrating.
Once again one step forward.... two steps back!!

It does seem to be the Workspace file. Deleted it and after a restart PT launched quickly.
Created a new catalogue and now it's slow to launch again, not quite as slow but mighty annoying.

Once again, one step forward two steps back!!

It definitely seems to be related to Workspace. Having deleted the Workspace files PT launches as usual..... then create a new Workspace catalogue and it is still slow to launch, but not as slow as with the original files.

I used the Pete Gates app and the issue still exists.
There are many threads on here about this problem - seems strange there's no response from Avid.

Same problem here across 6 systems. Mac Yosemite 10.10.5 HDX1.

Haven't tried deleting the workspace file yet.
