Hi.
Now I have a high upgrade fee. I bought it on the day it was released. But iLok hasn't been licensed yet. I emailed the customer, but there was no sound. Most companies will send it to you soon. McDSP seems to be doing it manually.

Pretty much every decent and reputable plugin company will give a grace period. It's surprising and a little shameful they're not and it would turn me off had I just bought something.

That's amusing the reason they gave was that a user bought during a sale. McDSP plugins are ALWAYS on sale. They're up there with Waves and iZotope with the constant sales and marketing emails.

There a customer satisfaction poll on their customer support e-mail.

I replied and expressed my dissatisfaction with having to pay for another upgrade fee to go to 7 when I just bought the v6 upgrade 10 days earlier.

Here's there reply:
"Our apologies, we did not realize that the Upgrade you purchased was not on sale at the time that you purchased it. As a result, we would be happy to offer you a $100 discount code on an Emerald Pack Native v6 to v7 Upgrade."

At this point I think I'm done with MCDSP - I've got many plug ins that do the same thing

Wow...that is shady. At least with RX, Izotope will let you know a new version is on the way and give you a free upgrade or at lease a discount on an upgrade when you purchase the previous version. I did upgrade a few of my MCDSP plugs the other day but this will make me think twice about purchasing from them again.

Be aware that McDSP's SSL certificate has expired. Firefox flags it as suspect. I'd not buy from them at this point in time until they get that figured out. As to the other stuff on upgrades - Colin must be suffering from cranial/rectal inversion.

Colin must be smoking crack if he things I'm paying those upgrade prices!

McDSP are blacklisted until they sort themselves out.

McDSP has put together a discount system on upgrade prices but you have to upgrade multiple ones to get the discount. At 4 updated plugins there's no discount; at 5 plugins the discount becomes 10% and at 6 plugins it's 11%. Still insane.

I have them and will continue to use them but not buying anymore.

For those still contemplating upgrading there's something weird going on. On YouTube there's a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEKsaeEOH7c wherein he talks about some plugins getting a real time analyzer (RTA). Specifically for me there's the AE600 active eq. In the video you can barely see the letters RTA towards the right side of the gui under the frequency graph. Go to the product page on the McDSP site and there's zero mention of that. This would have been one that I'd upgrade just for that but it doesn't look like it's there.
