problems of Core Audio after updating to OS 10.3.9

Hi,
after updating to 10.3.9, iTunes is not responding. I've read some posts on the Apple supoort forums regarding this issue, many of those suggesting the un-checking of iTunes in the Core audio supported applications. Is Digidesign suggestion other solutions?

You can try launching the Core Audio Manager before launching iTunes, which should work. There seems to be an issue with applications not properly connecting to the Digi Core Audio plug-in properly in 10.3.9.

This solution seems to stop the iTunes or QT 7 hanging, as does starting Pro Tools before hand. Basically itunes & QT seem to work if you have some other application taking exclusive control of the hardware, but it doesn't let you play through the Digi sound card, only through the onboard sound.

Is there any workaround for this? I realize that Apple's update is the reason for the problem, but this is a problem for many of us and i'm curious if any steps are being taken to update the core audio driver or if all efforts are currently being placed on making PT compatable with Tiger (which will not be an update us 001 users will likely be making).
Personally, i'd rather not have to Archive & install back to 10.3.8, but right now it's looking like the only option.

As it says on all of the current compatibility documents, 10.3.9 is not recommended. We will not be doing any additional testing on 10.3.9.

10.3.8 is the recommended version for all current Pro Tools LE and TDM systems. I would even recommend it for someone like yourself with a 001 and Pro Tools LE 6.4. But not 10.3.9.

just to fix the problem and to avoid future malfunctions, could you plese tell me the best configuration, Mac Os and Pro Tools Le version? And, in order to get the compatibility information, the suggested configurations, where can I find such documents?
