Export Playlists to new audio tracks
There must be a simple, one step, clean way to do this, right? I have a client who sent me 40 vocals in a playlist to make a huge kids choir. For now, I'm giving up and doing them one by one, but there must be a better way, right??? If not, there should be.

Re: Export Playlists to new audio tracks
If they all start at the same time, create a new session and Import Audio. You will then have the option of putting all the files in the Clips Bin, or on New Tracks(what you want).

If it's something you do a lot you could probably come up with a Soundflow macro to take care of it, but for a one off it's not worth it.

Re: Export Playlists to new audio tracks
Thanks guys. Next time I'll take Albee's advice and consolidate the audio from the top and reimport the new audio to new tracks. I spent more time looking for how to do it than it took to just copy paste and label the tracks! I did learn a few cool tricks along the way thought, so it wasn't time wasted.

Re: Export Playlists to new audio tracks
How was the recording done? If it was done using Loop Record and Expanding Alternate Takes To New Playlists, if you get the original session, you may be able to use this (from the Reference Manual):
"Expanding Alternate Takes to New Tracks Expanding alternate takes to new tracks readily facilitates auditioning, editing, and mixing alternate takes, each on separate tracks. To expand alternate takes to new tracks: 1 Identify the clip on the main playlist with matching alternate clips (takes). 2 Do one of the following: • Right-click the clip and choose Matches > Expand Alternates To New Tracks. • If the clip is selected, with the Selector tool, Command-click (Mac) or Control-click (Windows) anywhere on the selected clip and choose Matches > Expand Alternates To New Tracks. • If the clip is not selected, with the Selector tool, Command-click (Mac) or Control-click (Windows) at the precise beginning of the loop or punch range and choose Matches > Expand Alternates To New Tracks. 3 Then choose one of the following from the Expand Alternates To New Tracks sub-menu: By Track Name Names all new tracks after the source track name. By Clip Name Names each new tracks after the corresponding original clip names that you see in the Matches list. By Track and Clip Name Names all new tracks after the source track name, but with the corresponding original clip names in parenthesis. All matching alternate clips are copied to new tracks."

Re: Export Playlists to new audio tracks
Thanks for posting that. I found that but couldn't get that to work in the way I expected. It made a new track with the same playlists, and did not put each playlist on it's own new audio track. I tried a few times, but never got what I wanted.
Have you been successful with the method? Let's face it, takes are usually for comping, but this time was different. Consolidating the audio and then reimporting to the session works way more as expected and does the labeling automatically. Steve

Re: Export Playlists to new audio tracks
Make 40 new tracks, then put the source track into playlist view, highlight all of the clips on the playlists, and control-drag them down to the new tracks? This works in my head, but I'm not sure if it will IRL.

the really funny thing is, like Scott - this totally works in my head too.
I don't even wanna actually try it for fear of disappointment. |
