Default Another Pro Tools 8 thread...

I've been looking at some of the information posted about the new update, and was wondering if by some crazy chance...that digi would include some type of loudness maximizer in the new update. I would think probably not, considering their maxim is priced around 440.00usd. I just can't afford to purchase something so expensive and it would be nice to have a basic one to pump up my mixes before I process them to cd. So, if you are listening digi(sitting on santa's lap)..please release an inexpensive "lite version" of maxim..or include it in an upgrade kit that won't take food of my table. Thanks!

how does it sound compared to ozone 3, and L2(waves)? And I don't have an Ilok key, just the Mbox 2..so does this mean I have to buy an Ilok..or can the plugin be associated with the mbox 2?

Maxim is quite mediocre and outdated. If you want a very good limiter for cheap, check out Massey L2007. I have the L2 and I don't use it anymore. BTW, you may want to check out Massey other plugins as well. Great bang for your buck!

They already stated that both Maxim & D-Fi would be included as part of the standard compliment of plugins with PT8, which is cool but slightly annoying as I had just gone from PT 7.3 (where they required an auth code) to 7.4 (which meant digi had to post the assets into my iLok account).

So when PT8 is released I'm going to have a bunch of redundant assets on my iLok (they wont even be worth selling).

As an aside, I would like to know if that new "Futzbox" plugin that is included is in any way an alternative to Speakerphone? From the brief demo I saw it seems perhaps, but I wasn't at AES to get a good look, anyone else see it?
