Default Does Jam 2.6 support the Apple Superdrive?

Hi all,

Sorry this is a bit off topic...just looking for clarification on this.

Does anyone know if Jam 2.6 (or 2.6.2) supports the Apple Superdrive? I seem to recall reading a post on one of the forums saying that it did...but I can't seem to find it.

Anyone out there have it working?

Thanks,
Alan

Thanks for the response, but I'm actually referring specifically to the Superdrives. I believe the mechanisms are the Pioneer DVR-103 (older models) and DVR-104 (latest Quicksilver models).

Anyone able to use their Superdrive with Jam 2.6 or 2.6.2 to burn CDR's? (I'm pretty sure Roxio Jam 5.0 supports them but from what I've read 5.0 isn't as "pro", because it is not a standalone app -- instead of burning direct to CD it creates a disc image on the hard drive first which is then burned by Toast. This creates an extra step and takes more time. Jam 2.6 did all of this in real time.

That's why I'd prefer to use v2.6.x if possible. Anyone out there able to?

Alan

Yes, I use Jam 2.6.2 with my Quicksilver 867 MHz G4 with a Pioneer DVR-103 Superdrive. Works fine, direct to disc, no intermediate disc image needed.

Also, Toast Titanium 5.0.3 works with the Superdrive, and it has features that Jam does not have but should. A couple of the best ones being sample rate conversion from 48 to 44.1 and buffer underrun protection.

Hope this helps.

Roxio released Jam 5 a couple of weeks ago, it supports everthing Toast does, including the Superdrive.

Jam 2.6.2 does not work in my 933 w/SuperDrive. Hopefully Jam 5 will.

Does anyone know how to get Toast 5.0 to play out of the Digi interface and not the Mac speaker? If I run Toast 4.0 it plays out of my Digi interface, but when I run 5.0 it only plays out of the Mac speaker.

Also, anyway to get iTunes to play out of a Digi interface?

Thanks.

Well, I finally got a chance to install Jam 2.6.2 and try it out for myself. I haven't tested it extensively, but I'm happy to report that it *is* recognized by Jam 2.6.2 and it does seem to burn CDR's fine in my G4/933 with SuperDrive (Pioneer DVR-104).

Michael C, not sure why yours didn't work. Try reinstalling Jam and be sure you update to 2.6.2.

Thanks to all who replied.

Alan, no luck w/Jam over here. We are running a 933 w/SuperDrive. Are you using Toast Titanium as well? ToastTi works but not Jam. Even if I just run the Mac OS base set with the Toast extension, Jam won't work. Any thoughts?

Also, are you able to output sound through your Digi interface with ToastTi?

Thanks.

Michael,

Not sure why it doesn't work for you. Make sure you run the latest Jam updater. Version 2.6 didn't seem to support it very well, but 2.6.2 did the trick.

As far as playing out my 888/24 with Toast...I've never tried it. I just got my G4/933 and haven't installed my PT software yet. Once I do (should be within the next few days), I'll give it a try and get back to you.

One thought -- be sure you have the Digidesign Control Panel installed and properly configured. That should help.
