Complete noob alert. I was messing around with a MIDI clip in an instrument track, using the smart tool to change the length of the clip. Somehow I made the whole clip disappear, leaving only a gridded background, and only showing a "crosshair" in the lower half of the track, instead of the hand.
The MIDI notes are in their respective positions, but seemingly detached from any clip. Dragging a MIDI clip in from another track results in the notes being copied onto the same "clipless" track. I have made a new instrument track, but I would also like to know what I goofed up, and how to fix it. |

Can you try clicking on the Window tab then click on Midi Editor and see if the notes are visible?

If I understand you correctly: yes the MIDI notes are visible both in the track and in the MIDI editor. Can you see my attached screen shot?

I'm not sure what you did, but do the notes still sound when you play the track? Sometimes when all notes are selected, they appear ghosted or disconnected but are still there. When this happens, if you move one note, they will all move. You need to click on the grid and not on a MIDI note to unselect them, and then they should appear normal. |

I am not sure what I did neither. I discovered that extending a Midi clip actually reproduced the note values from a previously deleted Midi clip in that track
![]() I think I just tried some combinations of key press while I was testing the Trim tool. Suddenly the notes was free from their container. Except from the clip liberation, notes was playing and showing in the editors. |
