Default DB33 recording problem with sustain

Still so very new to this “older” tech, so please bear with me…
MP9 on Windows Vista (ouch! I didn’t really think about that a few years back)
I discovered the built-in DB33 and using an Maudio Keystation controller. I also have a Yamaha sustain pedal plugged into it.
After tracking and listening back, sometimes when I stop the transport at certain spots, the keyboard played chord will just sound forever. Usually I can restart the transport and it stops and plays normally. What’s up with this?? I know that times I’m not operating the sustain pedal correctly and I can hear that at times while tracking. (I’m not a real piano player but stab at it) I’m working on that part…

Yes I’m wanting to upgrade the computer, but afraid to get started for fear I’ll upset things and take forever to get it straightened out. I could sure use the ability to add more RAM with a newer unit! Haha

Some thoughts:
1-spending a dime on this old setup would be a complete waste of money
2-traditionally, a sustain pedal would not be used with organ sounds(DB-33). If your organ chops are not so great(neither are mine), I would simply record the midi notes at whatever length you can, and then edit the midi to extend the notes as you need.
3-looking to the future; MP-9 is dead, so bury it. You can now get Pro Tools Intro for free and it does everything MP does, and more(and is fully compatible with all modern AAX-64 plugins). Get a current/recent computer and get a current/recent interface. I would avoid any interface by M-Audio and look at offerings from Focusrite and Presonus if money is tight(Behringer is also worth a look, but avoid the very bottom-level options so you can get something with decent drivers). Assuming you want to stay on Windows, try to avoid ASIO4ALL as a real interface with current drivers is going to give the best performance and the least headache

This is the infamous "midi merge" bug. Google it, search here is useless

Expounding on #2 above, show sustain and delete all of it would be my suggestion(which I should have mentioned)
