Major HDX problems
Hey guys!
My name is David Johansen and I have been using protools from the first session8 system about 18 years ago.I have been running a pro recording studio in norway for about 15 years. I have always manage to have a very stable system working at all times following digidesigns recommendations for computer setup etc. My setup is a Mac Pro Westmare 3.33ghz with 24 GB ram running OSx lion 10.7.2. HDX card and Avid I/O 888 config. No ext clock. All computer recommended configurations is followed. I upgraded from PT HD to HDX about two month ago. Trying to upgrade from PT9 was a disaster and nothing worked at all. PT crashed the first time I launched. Clients wore waiting and I decided to do a clean install of my hole system. I installed the 10.7.2 combo update and PT 10.1.0 . and tested the system without any other third party plugs. Long story short the system continued with major bugs like suddenly delaying a couple of tracks, crashing when opening plugs and a message saying " Problem detected with audio clock. Check that your clock source and sample rate are correct" First I thought the interface might be the problem. I changed it but the message and problems is the same. I have updated to 10.1.1 and are experiencing many of the same issues like frequently crashes , moving track out of sync and the "Problem detected with audio clock. Check that your clock source and sample rate are correct". Just reopening the session without trashing prefs or anything usually allow me to continue recording. The message only appear when opening a session and not during. All my plugs are approved for PT 10. All of avids recommendation for computer setup is followed. I have only installed what I need on the Mac pro like mail , pages , iTunes , toast 11 , hijack pro and printer drivers which has been a no issue in the past. Im loosing money by the hour and Im at the break of returning the system and buying a HD native instead. restarting my computer at least 5 times an hour is really bad for business . Please help ! Re: Major HDX problems
Hi David,
That sounds like there must be something more then just software issues to me. My system - very similar to yours - has run 12 hours a day for the last 4 or 5 days. Tracking / editing and mixing. I asked the engineer working on it last night if he had had any issues and he said none whatsoever. No crash / no slowdowns no nothing. I would suggest to get your dealer involved and try another HD IO to start with. Chris

My dealer directed med to Avid support to maybe get some tips. Have you tried opening old sessions and sessions from other system ? I have two Avid HD I/O 888 config and have tried them both separately . Same issues.. |

Re: Major HDX problems
I think you should only be spending a certain amount of time on a HDX problem before it becomes your dealer's obligation to fix it.
I expect a high level of support when buying a high end system.
