Track count question
Hello DUC'ers!
Does anyone know the track count of voices playable on an HD3 system at 96k? At 48k? Does it increase if you have an Accel card as one of your 3 cards? I've searched the Support Forum but can't find info on this. We currently have an HD2 (non-Accel) and have a voice limit of 128 voices at one time. I want to add a card so we can play 200 tracks at a time (or near). Would I have to add an Accel card to do that or would a simple Process card work? Thanks for any info you might have. J |

Re: Track count question
Hey, thank you JRE,
Now, would anyone happen to know the track counts on NON-Accel HD3's? On an HD3 Accel, it's 192 at 44/48k. Anyone out there know about non-Accel? Thanks again... J |

HD3 with process or accel cards i think it makes no difference! 196 tracks at 48k (6 dsp chips) 96 tracks at 96k (6 dsp chips) 200 tracks? you're going to have to get some serious external 800 firewire drives!! Chris

Re: Track count question
Chris, I think it does make a difference...check this out...on the links JRE provided, it shows that a HD2 Accel can play 192 tracks at 44/48k. Our "normal" HD2 only plays 128 tracks at 44/48, so it must be that having at least one Accel card does make a difference. What I'm trying to figure out is whether a non-Accel HD3 can play back 192 tracks at 44/48k.
Thanks again... |

Re: Track count question
I think that may have something to do with your drive setup. As Chris said, to get that many tracks you'd have to spread the session over a few drives.

Re: Track count question
Well, surely hard drives need to be ready to rock, too, but I'm still hoping that someone has the answer as to whether a non-Accel HD3 is rated to play back 192 tracks at 44/48k.
Anyone? |

Re: Track count question
Non-Accel systems will only go up to 128 tracks. To get 192 tracks, you need at least 1 Accel card in the system.
