Default Axiom Pro Problems

I'm running PT8 M-Powered and have an Axiom Pro49. Sometimes when I start up PT my controller will say something like "Pro Tools Controls Active" but nothing works. The keys WILL play and make sounds, but the faders don't work, the buttons don't work, none of the transport functions work, etc. Usually after one or two restarts it's all fine.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening and how I can get a more consistent start up?

MBP with OSX 10.6.8
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Grab the latest firmware update for Axiom Pro off M-Audio Drivers/Updates.

Does it not update automatically? I haven't manually checked for any because it said that all of the drivers were already installed.

Well, I installed the latest firmware and started up and had the same issue. Transport controls, buttons, knobs, sliders... none of it responds on my initial start up.

I also noted that I have version 8.0.3 and there is version 8.0.5 out. When I run my software updater it says I have the most up to date software.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I didn't say that the firmware update would fix the issue. Did you reset Axiom Pro after firmware update? Can you uninstall Pro Tools and reinstall Pro Tools 8.0.0. then update to Pro Tools 8.0.5. Repair Permissions. Launch Pro Tools>Pro Tools Main Menus>Setup>Peripherals MIDI Controller tab and select M-Audio Keyboard as Controller Type, assign HyperControl in I/O and check Channel 8. Exit Pro Tools and relaunch Pro Tools. Axiom Pro>Load>Group N press Number 2 then Load. Does Pro Tools Faders respond to Axiom Pro Group S Fader movements? Transport Controls? Virtual Instrument controls?

Well, I uninstalled it and reinstalled PT. Still won't let me upgrade to 8.0.5. Haven't gotten in to the use of my controller yet... so we'll see if there's any improvement.

I just checked again and found out why I can't upgrade to 8.0.5. I have OS 10.6.8 and on the update page it says 8.0.5 is supported for 10.6.7 and lower.

I recall Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 being the best release for many reasons.
