Default Timecode Overlay - Custom TC/Reels

Hey,

Is there any way to impose a custom TC for the TC overlay function, for example; displaying the LTC IN TC from a SYNC X.

When we play back reels stitched together, people always give notes based on the TC, and it's such a pain having to calculate those back into reel TC every time. Unfortunately we haven't got space for an external TC counter.

Thanks,

A

A workaround would be to re-encode the reels with burned in timecodes using shutter encoder before merging them in your PT session. Not the cleanest option due to double encoding, but it gets the job done.

Shutter Encoder is a good option…

Or, Pro Tools can export “same as source” Quicktimes with the TC overlay feature. Export each video at its reel location then merge them together in Pro Tools in the continuous playback session.

Shutter Encoder might be faster but you wouldn’t have to mess around so much doing it in Pro Tools.

.
Unless this has changed in 22.3 PT will only embed the TC when transcoding. Doesn't work with same as source, last time I tired it.
