A little help please = Axiom 49 & Pro Tools 8 LE
Hi everyone, a bit of a beginner question, I have received and unpacked my new Axiom 49 keyboard and connected it via the usb cable to the back of my PC, can someone please tell me step by step what do I need to do in pro tools to assign this keyboard so I can use it as an instrument with the free pro tools plugins, I am looking for a standard piano sound.
Much appreciated, sorry but I am a total beginner. Thanks |

You need to configure your midi setup in PT first - this will be described in your 'getting started guide'. then it's worth spending some time reading Chapter 19 Midi Recording in the PT reference guide. After that it's as simple as creating an instrument track and inserting a VI on it. I'd spend half an hour reading that chapter first though. Well worth it.

Guys I appreciate your help, and also I appreciate the reminder to read the reference manual and instructions, but whenever I read these manuals there are terms and names I am not familiar with which is why I get lost.

If anyone could simply tell me, press this, open that menu, select that... it's the type of help I was looking for and it will help me understand more about pro tools. Thanks |

"VI" is "Virtual Instrument." Create an Instrument track (in the track menu), and on the Insert tab, click. A menu should pop up of all of your plug-ins. Scroll down to instruments. There you should see all of your VIs (virtual instruments).

Bongo5HH stick with it, another one is groove3.com - lots of free tutorials there also. (see, I don't know how to add the links like Filo does).
Best of luck
