Default Re: My Axiom Template for Pro Tools 8

I just purchased an Axiom 49 and am quite disappointed that it does not have presets for Pro Tools. The salesperson assured me that it should be easy to map controls in Pro Tools and various plugins, and he figured that there were Pro Tools presets since he uses an Axiom 49 with Ableton. But clearly M-Audio has emphasized Ableton at the expense of Pro Tools, because there are no presets for the latter, and there appears to be no rhyme or reason to the controls matching up with anything in Pro Tools 8.03 or any of the plugins it includes.

Granted, I'm a beginner when it comes to using a MIDI controller to manipulate software controls, but I can't believe that a product like this would not have at least reasonable out-of-the-box functionality with the leading DAW on the market.

I know that someone has posted a template here, but it looks like it has limitations. Isn't there any way for me to quickly make sense of the MIDI controllers and assign them to what I want them to control in my DAW and plugins?

I agree.... can't seem to get the pads to work on my Axiom 25. You would think a Pro Tools preset from M-Audio would get you started. So much content on this forum, I'm sure my answer is here somewhere?
The Axiom works in my PT sessions, but not the pads. I use Addictive Drums. Should I be using MIDI in/out from the Axiom to Mbox2?
Thanks,
Mike

I'm not sure why M-Audio (Avid) don't release a preset for PT8. Especially seeing as how PT8 and Axiom are all Avid now and we are all using 2 X Avid products.

I still can't get my Axion 61 non-Pro to work effectively with PT.

Giddy up Avid, better support please.

I don't get why you needed to create this patch... my Axiom Pro did all that right out of the box.

I was just about to post about altering the XML file when I see you beat me to it. I'll add to your post that the only two lines that need to be altered are:

<key>name</key><string>Axiom 49</string>
<key>PID</key><integer>409</integer>

On the first line, you just change the bold text to whatever you want to call the preset. On the second line, the bold text is the device ID. 409 represents the Axiom 49 and I've found that 410 is for the Axiom 61. I am assuming that 408 will probably be for the Axiom 25. Once you change the lines in a text editor, Enigma should show the proper keyboard type in the graphic editor screen (you may need to restart Enigma and import the preset again). If anybody is having trouble with Enigma communicating with your non pro Axiom keyboard, try changing the device ID to match your keyboard type. I had that problem initially but after doing a factory reset and altering the xml file I got it to work.

I just finished pulling this off so I will see how well everything is working. So far so good though. Much gratitude to the OP for posting this and saving us Axiom users a lot of trouble! BTW, on the download page, the file name is in quotes. Get rid of those once you download the file.

Hope this helps some people.

Thanks for this!
NOTE:
I was only able to get this working with MIDI Machine Control (Master) enabled and (Slave) disabled. Took me forever to figure that out!
Cheers
