Default Importing GM Midi File problem

We imported a GM file (Import Midi To Track) with a tempo map to both a 16bit TDM session and a 24bit TDM session. The 16 bit import was fine (all tempo mapping correct) but the 24bit import had several problems with the tempo map being corrupted primarily at places where the tempo rose and fell incrementally over a few bars. Any ideas why?
