Default Help with Windows 7 Install Please

I cannot seem to install Pro tools 8 on Windows 7.

I have the Pro Tools 8 disk, but even when I try running it in compatibility mode, I only get a little pop up menu that just sits there and does nothing. Setup does not run at all.

I understand that i have to install the original disk, before I can upgrade to the 8.04 version, but the problem is, Windows 7 will not permit me to install the original disk.

I would very much appreciate any help you can provide. I have been racking my brains on this for hours.

Thanks so much!

Cal

Can you go to the properties of the installer and say "run in Windows XP mode"?

Default Re: Help with Windows 7 Install Please

Thanks Julia:

I figured it out. i went to compalibility mode and tried all the different OS, including :Run was XP".

Guess what? The last item on that lists says "Run was Windows 7". I clicked on that and it worked. I think it's a stupid item to be on the list, since we are in Windows 7..but.....

Thank-you. i hope this solution helps someone else. I spent hours on this before I figured it out.
