Using 2 MIDI controllers in Pro Tools 9.
Hey I'm running pro tools 9 on my computer. I have 2 MIDI controllers hooked up and working, but I can't get them to give me two separate midi inputs. I have an M-Audio Oxygen 25 and a Yamaha MM8. Both run great and i can use and record them, but I don't know how to use the separately in the same pro tools session. I would like to be able to assign each MIDI controller to a different instrument track. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Using 2 MIDI controllers in Pro Tools 9.
Let me guess. They're both USB, right?
Make sure one is connected to USB Audio Device, and the other one is connected USB Audio Device (2). Input only. You don't need to send to them, unless you want to. This should work in Pro Tools -- this is how it's connected in mine anyway. I had a mess with three midi devices. One runs the old school midi through my Fast Track Pro MIDI (Alesis QS8), one is the Oxygen 61, and the other is a Presonus Faderport (USB) for transport control from the Alesis keyboard since it's on the opposite side of the room. Fortunately I bought the Faderport from Sweetwater and they helped me get all three functioning with one of my DAWs. NOTE: the Faderport does not work with Pro Tools M-Powered, no biggie for me since I don't use PT for midi stuff.

Re: Using 2 MIDI controllers in Pro Tools 9.
I have had some headaches with this as well. What seems to work for me is to open the preferences window>midi tab and select NONE as the default thru instrument(have to do this every time you open a session). AND/OR, once I put 2 instrument tracks into record ready at the same time, they USUALLY behave(work from the individual controllers they way you want them to).

Re: Using 2 MIDI controllers in Pro Tools 9.
When was the last time you updated QuickTime Dave? Pro Tools Preferences are global and are set when a session is closed.
