Default Weird glitches and clicks

Hello. I have just updated to 2021.3.1 and I now have the kind of glitches and clicks you would expect when your buffer size is too low and the CPU is working way too hard but this is happening when playing back minimal frozen tracks with the CPU under no stress. Never had this issue before this version. Anyone else experiencing anything similar? I'm on Windows 10, 48GB RAM, i7 Quad-core @ 3.40GHz

These will come from buffer settings too low or driver related issues:

Network background traffic or older network drivers
Outdated video drivers
Outdated interface drivers

I would look in these areas first.

I am on the latest version of Windows and 3.1 and not getting these issues.

C

I have rolled back to 2020.12 - very stable for me.

I am on Win 10 up-to-date, 8700K 32G Ram, MOTU 1248 interface, 24/96 operation, standard VIs and plugs, well optimized system (C states off, Turbo Off, O/C 4.9 GHz, AVX -1, Affinity FFE, ...).

When I updated to 2021.3 I got clicks and pops in simple sessions that run very well in 2020.12. So I rolled back. Then 2021.3.1 came out and I tried that. Nope, same clicks and pops so I have rolled back again.

Something is wrong. Maybe MOTU needs to update (doubt it) or Win10 is pooched (but I roll back to 2020.12 and all is good) or ???

Staying on 2020.12. I mean I really miss the new onscreen midi keyboard but I will make due.

Thanks ejinbc; that sounds exactly like my deal. Buffer size, drivers etc all good. Everything optimised, so I think it's like you say. I was thinking of rolling back but I'm definitely gonna do it now.

I have been experiencing the same issue with 2021.3.1.

Weird clocking issue style distortion and pops. Also had the Avid Interface redirect channels 9-16 to 1-8. So unstable I had to roll back to previous version.

Latest update is un-useable for me.

Also having the same clicking issue on 2021.3.1 - OSX - 10.15.5 - very tempted to rollback if it continues to crop up.

Brand new to HDX and PT 2021.3.1 here. Just migrated over to it from my old HD2 Accel rig, and I am getting these weird glitches and pops as well. A Google search led me to this thread. Happens sometimes when I move tracks around, if some of them are record enabled. Happens when I close a session. Happens when the sample rate changes. Seems to happen in a lot of odd instances. Thankfully I don't monitor super loud, or else it would be a serious bummer. This happens to me even on small sessions with all buffer sizes on a safe range, running off an SSD in a SATA bay of my Mac Pro 5,1. Mojave

Are you turning off core zero in Task Manager? That helps a lot on Windows, especially with VIs.

Sorry, should have mentioned I'm on a 5,1 Mac Pro, not Windows

Anyone found any resolution to this problem? I've gone back and forth with Avid but no success. I can't seem to reinstall 2020.12 as I keep getting a No Entry Point error. Sigh.
