missing output option under Control Panel

I used to have the option under the Sound menu in the Control Panel to use my Digidesign hardware (888/24 I/O) as an output for the Sound Manager instead of that nasty, little built-in Mac speaker when not using ProTools. After doing a computer upgrade and a re-install of everything, that option doesn't show up now.

What can do to get that back?

Reinstall it from your ProTools CD. Just click install then check the box for Digidesign Control Panel. Install, restart and you should see it come back.

You should have:

OS 9 Mac OS installed
Digidesign® Control Panel in System Folder/Control Panels

You should NOT have either of these files in your System Folder/Extensions folder when using the Digidesign Control Panel:

Digidesign Output Drivers
Digidesign Sound Drivers

If you are still experiencing problems after installation and restart, delete "Sound Preferences" from your System Folder/Preferences folder.
