Default 6.4 to 6.7. A couple questions

I have an AMD 64bit system with SP2 and I'm running great with 6.4 but I want upgrade to 6.7. Just a couple questions:

1. Do you have to uninstall 6.4 or can you just install 6.7 and it will keep all plugins, etc? The manual doesn't say.

2. If I do a reinstall will I have to do the DEP fix with 6.7?

Thanks

When I did my upgrade from 6.4 to 6.7, the installer prompted me to remove 6.4 first, which I did. After install, all the plugins were still there and available.

However, I did do a complete backup of my system before doing the install, even though I ended up not needing it. It is always wise to do a full backup of your system before doing any major upgrade.

I don't have a 64 system so I can't really comment about the DEP fix. The fix is windows based, not PT based, though so i would imagine if you've done it once, you won't need to do it again.

If you have SP2 on you machine you can try the DEP fix, if it does some good, keep it, other wise don't. SP1 doesn't give you that option.

I have a K8V-X/64 bit 3200, 1gb ram with SP1, 6.7 and its running great.

With the prices of hard drives so low, I recommend loading a new drive and put your working 6.4 drive on a shelf. If you have any troubles you can slap in the old drive and go right back to work. If you don't want to take the time to reload everything, use Ghost to copy the old drive to the new one, and then make your changes and updates.
