Default Digi Init crash on G3 B&W\'s and G4\'s

I was hoping that ProTools 5.0 LE and the new DAE/DSI 5.0 would fix the lockup crash on the digi init every now and then but it did not. I have seen the 001 on a G4 do it and a G3 350 B&W with a PT/24 system also still crash with the digi init enabled.

When will it get fixed????

Thanks
Mike Stokes

I second the above-

I shouldn't have to reboot my G4 30% of the time on start up because of a non-beta (ie "final" & "non fully working" init.

On the other hand- 5.0 LE w/AMIII is a welcome step in the right direction.

hint to Digi:
add a MIDI arpeggiator and -*cough* *cough* - VST COMPATIBILITY (yes- I know- the competition)- and I'll never go back to Vision or Logic/Cubase.
Allowing me to drag my hundreds of dollars worth of VST plug-ins into my PT folder would shut the door forever on the others' software... and I wouldn't look back.

You've probably heard this before but I'll toss it out again just for clarification. In order to get the performance we require we have to reprogram the pci-bridge chip.

This is a known issue with the rev of the pci-bridge that Apple chose to put on the motherboard. They are very much aware of the problem. However, after extensive investigation unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be anything that can be done to completely prevent the crash when this parameter is changed.

Did this get fixed by Apple? As I just setup a G4 500 MHz and I have not seen it lock up yet. It came with OS 9.0.2.

Thanks

for what its worth, i have found that making the digi init load 1st (type a space in front of the name) makes a huge difference maybe 1 lock up in 12 - 15 boots.
