stereo panning and EQ questions
Hi all-
Here's two possibly silly questions from a fairly new PT user: 1) is there a way to have a single slider control panning on a stereo track? Say I have a stereo track and want to pan it left and then right and then center. Is there a way to do this without messing with the individual (left and right) panning controls? Or is there a workaround? 2) I had a stereo ambient-type of track I was working with. I normalized it to -.5 db, so levels are fine, and I'm working with just this track. It had some rumble in it (just outside wind and whatnot), so I put a hi-pass EQ and adjust to my taste - ends up being 250Hz. Now, with the EQ insert, the levels go into the red on the track. My understanding is I'm only taking stuff away, so how is this possible (or is it just a one-time freak thing)? I'll maybe have to see if I can duplicate this with a different track. thanks for your help! |

Re: stereo panning and EQ questions
1. If you want to do the stereo panning thing like you describe you should make the stereo track a mono track, or bus the stereo track to a mono track but that would just be more work.
2. Sometimes when you cut frequency it will boost the other frequencies, that is why it raised the level of the track, this is explained in much more detail in other posts, do a search of the DUC. Jason

Re: stereo panning and EQ questions
Maybe obvious, but you can cut the input on the EQ plug so it doesn't go into the red.
