Fades generating DC offset
I'm getting a strange behaviour since about a week ago where any fade (in/out/cross-fade) will generate only a solid DC offset.
This sounds very ugly - causing the speakers to jump about. Once Pro Tools gets in this "fades make DC" mode, the only solution is to quit Pro Tools and relaunch the application. The fades return to normal - at least for a while. Here's a screen snapshot: Has anyone else seen this? If so, what causes it? Last edited by matt connolly; 09-07-2009 at 06:28 PM. Re: Fades generating DC offset
Yikes, that looks as bad as it probably sounds. I would try trashing prefs and database files and reboot. I've never seen this on my system.

Re: Fades generating DC offset
It looks and sounds ugly for sure.
I've deleted my preferences and it's still happening. Although I notice it happens every time I go to a session that has elastic audio tracks in it. I'm still trying to pin this down - I just can't get any work done like this. I had a look at the bad fade files in a hexeditor, and they contain "80 00 00 80 00 00" etc... (24 bit wav). |

Re: Fades generating DC offset
If trashing prefs and database files doesn't help, then I'd make an image of the system drive and either install the 8.0.1 update or better yet, completely uninstall then reinstall Pro Tools to start with. I was having some weird problems when I installed the 8.0.1 update and ended up uninstalling/reinstalling PT and it's much smoother now.
