Default Akai Max 49 midi controller setup

Hi

I struggle to set up my new Akai Max 49 MIDI keyboard with Pro tools. It should be easy but actually I find it quite difficult due to poor guidelines in the guide that's following the product.

I installed the Vyzeg and Akai Connect software as described in the manual, and the keyboard seem to be installed properly with my Mac. That is, I can play virtual instruments using the keyboard, notes are registered by the software. But that's more or less it, I can't get all the other nice features to work. My expectation was, at least, that simple functions like pressing the PLAY button as well as RECORD should work out of the box, but no....

Does anyone out there have any thoughts? I'm sure I need some help here And I can't find much headaches related to the Max 49 there.

Thanks'
