Default Question about 192 Digital Outputs

Hi everybody,

I've got a simple question about the 192 I/O, but couldn't find the answer in the manuals. If I set my outputs to Digital in the IO Setup, should I be getting signal out of both the AES and TDIF I/O ports? Right now, I only seem to be getting the AES output. Do I need to explicitly select TDIF output somewhere, or are the AES and TDIF outputs supposed to simultaneously pass signal? Just to clarify, I'm talking about the DB25 outputs on the Digital I/O card, not the enclosure outputs.

Thanks!

I think that depends on the bit rate of your session. If you are using 88K or above I think the TDIF output is disabled (like the ADAT ones).

Go to the Hardware Setup > Digital tab, and select TDIF instead of AES/EBU.

John,

In our 192 set up we can output ADAT and AES at the same time (suspect TDIF would be the same) if we set the 192 Sample Rate setting in the Hardware dialogue (Bottom left) to 44 or 48K and make sure the session matches this too.

You will see that when you are choosing digital out ADAT will be grayed out if you choose 88K or higher. So I suspect you should be able to output on TDIF and AES and ADAT at the same time. The TDIF tick box is used for input selection.

It is worth a try.
