Default Inconsistencies During Automation

Hello Avid,

Good afternoon. How are you? Hope all is well. Happy Thanksgiving. I am having a bit of a dilemma automating regions, specifically volume (just the volume). I want to put up the volume on a region by using two dots or selecting the region and increasing the volume on that region using the smart tool. Have there been multiple reports about the volume going up slanted rather than squared at times? I ask because it's very inconsistent, to the point where I have to latch and increase the volume, listen to the region, which is too much time. I've attached a photo of the slanted volume automation line as I am increasing the volume using the smart tool.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Your best bet is to change your method. Instead of swiping across and trying to move the volume line across a selection, instead, drop break points and drag each to the level you want. Things that will help this action: Enlarge the track vertically and use the Ctrl key to select FINE mode.

I think it's because you already have a "dot" where you're already trying to raise the Volume.

Select your clip, in volume view hit Command+/ . This will put breakpoints on the clip boundaries.
Then use the smart tool that will turn into trim when you hover over the volume.
Adjust as needed.

Or use Clip Gain if you’re automation aims only a clip and not the whole track.

Best
