Re: 8.0.1 proper installation
i went ahead and did it without uninstalling pt8cs3 as directions say and it works.
2 reboots required but it seems certainly faster...no more sluggishness!!! Thanks digi |

Re: 8.0.1 proper installation
Awesome work Digi...thx
The very annoying CPU usage issue is SOLVED !!!!! I run currently on a Core2Duo with one processor selected. Previously I couldn't do a thing. Now I have both the Edit and Mix window open to the fullest. I run 14 tracks all having XPand! on it. The system CPU goes to about 8% and RTAS CPU to about 18%. This is just awesome. I can work again...wooohhhhooooooooo BUT !! I just found a small bug regarding CPU usage. It is not preventing me from working but what I noticed is that when I set a different application active in my Windows session ( It really doesn't matter what, I first noticed it when I opened up the Task Manager ), my cpu of one core jumps towards 90%+. When I click on PT 8.0.1 again then it drops to 2%. So there is still something not entirly correct there but you don't hear me complain. Working in PT is a real charm now My five cents PS: I'm on M-Powered |

Re: 8.0.1 proper installation
from installer page...
To update to Pro Tools LE 8.0.1: 1. Verify Pro Tools LE 8.0 is installed on your Pro Tools LE system. 2. Quit the Pro Tools application if it is open. 3. Locate the Pro Tools LE 8.0.1 update installer and launch it. 4. Follow the onscreen instructions to install Pro Tools LE 8.0.1. 5. When installation is complete, restart your computer.

Re: 8.0.1 proper installation
The updated instructions are on the Digidesign download page. Just click the download link for 8.0.1 and it will take you right to it.

Re: 8.0.1 proper installation
Quote:
Ignore any errors (like crash-to-desktop) after the FIRST launch/project-load of the new installation. It will work fine after the second launch/project-load. That's exactly the update I wanted: NO NEW FEATURES, just some major bug-/hassle-fixes. |
