I download the demo last night and tried it today, just in time after I finished a clients project last night, but I wasnt impressed at all. Is one of the Steve products that I dont like. So far the only product I like is the FG-X Virtual Mastering.

Would be nice to read the others people feedback and compare with what I heard.

I have the FG-X also and I just purchased the VTM. I've been working with the demo for about two days and I really like it. It really is one of the best tape Sims I have tried. I like it even better than the Waves and UA versions. I find the unit very efficient. I tested 298 mono and 128 stereo instances with the CPU usage @ about 55% ( Buffer setting @ 1024) on my current system and the sound is awesome. It is an accurate tape replucation. You really have to give listening time to train you ears to it's subtle approach Just as the VCC products. My ears wasn't trained to here saturation but now I can hear it. It really smooths the highs and It really warms the tracks from that harsh digital sound. I had to go thru the same thing when I started using compressors. You can purchase the plugin @ http://jrrshop.com/catalog/advanced_...ate+tape+cross for $169.00 with a cross-grade offer. @ that price it was a no brainer for me . I would have payed the $249.00 price. It's that good! Also enter this coupon code ( FIREWORKS15 ) to get the 15% discount and with the cross-grade $50.00 voucher from Slate Digital the final check-out price is $169.15.

Well I have been working for so many years (30 years to be exactly) with analog tape and I considered that the VTM its not an "accurate" tape replication. It does change the sound a little but not exactly as an analog tape. The only I like is the little smooth that apply to the highs but I'm not too happy with the bottom end. Analog tape have a distinctive sound at the bottom end that the VTM is not reproducing. I can get better results with other analog gears in my mastering studio.

With all my respect "zion" your post look like an ad from Slate Digital...LOL

Nothing against Slate Digital and Steve, like I said before, I like the FG-X but I will pass on this one.

No offense taken. Maybe I should be a Slate Digital rep. I really like there products. Just to be clear, I haven't found any software plugin to out perform the hardware or any simular hardware counter parts, but my comparison is with other software tape plugins. In my own personal opinion I like this one the best. I've gotten great result in the last few days with VTM.
