Default WAVES plugin users, please read...

Just purchased Waves Gold Bundle Native for $799. What a great bundle. I have improved some mixes from last year and these plugs have exceeded my expectations.

However, as I was launching Waves Tune Lite as an rtas plug and Pro Tools just "quits unexpectedly" I trashed preferences, peered into the plug in folders, and still crashing. All the other plugs work well.

Running P T LE 7.1.1 Mac OSX 10.4.9 Digi 002

Anybody have a suggestion?

Have you got an Intel Mac? I'm asking as that affects how you go about installing the bundle. It looks like a single installer for Intel but not for PPC.

Download the following installers and save them to your desktop.

Important: You must install them in the following order.

Gold V5.2.1 (60 MB)
Vocal V1.1 Including Waves Tune LT (26 MB)
Doubler V5.0.4 (1.2 MB)
IR V5.2.1 (97.5 MB)
Support for PT7 (8.3 MB)
Manuals (20.5 MB)

Otherwise, given you'll have a current WUP, I suggest you get in touch with Waves support. They're usually excellent.

The new 5.9.7 installers are all-inclusive for both chipsets. In fact, they're all inclusive for all bundles (one installer can install any one of a multitude of bundles).

From this chart I suspect it might just be a problem with PT 7.1.1 not being supported by Waves 5.9.7. You don't mention what kind of computer you have (PPC or Intel), but the supported versions of PT LE seem to be the same regardless. You may just need to update to PT 7.4. I have the Waves Gold bundle and all of the plugs are working fine on my system (10.4.9, 7.4, Intel iMac).

Fwiw I have the platinum bundle (which I love) and upgrading the newest version of plugs (5.9.7 or whatever it is) along with a os upgrade fixed an issue I was having with both Tune and believe it or not Reason. Yeah my Reason adapted 2.5, which hasn't worked right in I don't know how long, now works again. Might should start a thread about how cool that is. Anywho I'm on PTLE 7.3.1 so that may be the difference. Specs below if you need them.

Just reread your specs. If you did install the newest version of the Waves plugs you will need to be on OSX 10.4.11 . At least I'm pretty sure that's the required version. I know I upgraded to that version just for the plugs. Oh and while I'm on that subject my reason for starting the upgrade was waves claimed the new versions loaded faster. (I was tired of watching the spinning "W" every time I started PT) Sure enough, the waves plugs may be the fastest loading part now.

As I wrote above, I'm running 10.4.9 with Waves Gold bundle 5.9.7 just fine. I couldn't find anything on the Waves support site about what versions of OS 10.4.x are supported (just the fact that 5.9.7 supports Leopard), but there is clear info about what versions of PT are supported with 5.9.7 (see my link above).

It might also be worth posting at the Waves support forum, although I think this forum is a bit more active and you may already have the information you need at this point.

Ok found it. If you go here and choose your bundle in the far left drop down menu (the 5.9.7 set) it will give you the computer requirements. Hope that helps.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Waves thuggery - things can get interesting!

Spend your hard earned cash on plug-ins that work mate. Just an opinion...

Waves Platinum Native Owner + APA 44-M (that doesn't work!)

Hello,
I'm trying to set up a secondary workstation with a G5 running Leopard and Pro Tools HD 7. Would someone still have the Waves v5 (or v5.9) installer ?
Thank you.
