Default Not a valid audio volume...its been posted before but i still cant figure it out

Ive been getting the "not a valid audio volume" error, but for every single drive I mount, which makes me think that its not a problem with the drives but something else. I haven't reformatted the drives for that reason. This is my system:
Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook1,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Mac OSX: 10.4.11
PT LE Version: 7.4cs7

I've tried a few drives, including the internal, but the one that I need to work is an OWC Mercury Elite AL-Pro FireWire 800/400 + USB 2.0 250GB 7200RPM. I currently use the Digi002 control surface and I connect the Digi002 first and I connect the external drive to the Digi002.

Ive tried pretty much everything in the stickies. Ive trashed all the preferences by using the DAE Trasher. I reinstalled the operating system by downloading it off of Apple website. I repaired the PACE extensions. I cant verify the disk permission b/c disk utility doesnt let me. I even used the Tech Support Utility. I havent reformatted the drives for reasons stated above and I havent reinstalled ProTools because I want to see if there is anything else that I am missing before I go ahead and do that. Please let me know if I am missing any vital info to be able to get a proper solution. I appreciate all the help, I'm out of ideas.

Miguel

Is this the single drive version or the dual-drive RAID version?

Are you possibly connecting it via USB (not supported)? If so, can you try firewire and let us know if you are able to change it in the Workspace?

Also, did you erase the drive yourself? If not, you may want to back up any data on it and use the Disk Utility to erase it.

Im already connecting it via firewire. The reason I havent reformatted the drive is because the same thing happens with every drive I mount, that leads me to believe that its something else. Am I wrong in my reasoning?

When I bought the drive though, I did reformat it myself. Just as an extra, all the drives have worked fine before this incident. Ive used them for mixing and tracking sessions on PT.
