Nothing but static

Using PT 9 on Windows 7-64. Have tried a couple of audio cards (Asus Xonar DS and M-Audio Firewire Solo).

Have the same issue on each: I get nothing but static on playback.

I can import or record into the session and see the waveform properly. But playing it back results in white noise static. The level meters also peg at the top - they don't reflect the ups and downs of the waveform.

I intend to only use this system for mixes of video projects - no major recording, music stuff.

Any ideas?

Clean install of OS maybe?

Oy...hope not. There's a day shot. Any other suggestions? All other apps using audio (Adobe Audition for instance) work just fine.

Make sure your audio drivers are fully updated, and your chipset drivers is updated. Also make sure that you change the Asus Xonar control panel settings to see which one works. I know that DSP mode on can mess with the audio.

Unfortunately that didn't help. Have tried 2 other audio cards, native ASIO and ASIO4ALL drivers, nothing works. A complete OS re-install simply isn't possible now (in the middle of some video projects)...I guess I'll just sit on PT9 for a month or so until I have time to mess around with t.

Absolutely! Don't make a change in the middle of a project. Actually, you CAN, but I would simply remove the system drive and start fresh with a new one. This way, you can swap out to your present drive and get things done(that's how I work in EVERY update).
