Matrix dilemma?
Am I over looking something here: I have a SC48 for used monitors, all groups are filled up and all aux's filled up and I need to send GTR 57 and GTR 421 to a mono matrix to get to a single channel on the Aviom so the player can have his cab blended the way he wants it. Can I assign those 2 channels by direct out (or some user function) to the Matrix without going through the aux or group sends to get to the Matrix and the to the Aviom?

I don't think so. From memory, you can only assign direct outs to hardware, fwx and (I think) plugins. You may have to direct out both and then use 2 channels on the aviom.

Re: Matrix dilemma?
Aviom"s are full except for there only GTR channel. How about the User tab in the drop down window, can 2 channels be assigned to that matrix?
Surely there is a work around? |

Re: Matrix dilemma?
User channels are going to be the key to the solution here for you. I don't remember for certain about the direct outs, but you can pick off the channel in multiple areas, (such as top of channel, pre fader, post fader). It is possible accomplish what you are after unless you have all the user assign channels already taken up. PM me if you need additional help. I can boot up the offline and walk you through it.

Re: Matrix dilemma?
if you have enough channels you can assign the input to 2 channels each with there own plug-in. go to the matrix and select the 2 channels and blend them as you wish. make sure the pick-off is not top of channel.
I think that should work. |

Re: Matrix dilemma?
Ok let's check my math: I go to output page, click the user assign button in the Matrix User Inputs and source my GTR 57 on #1 and source my GTR 421 on #2. Then highlight matrix 1, then click on the drop down arrow and select user and check GTR 57, rinse and repeat for the 421, mix to taste (make sure in patchbay that the correct patching for the A-net is correct)??? Does this seem correct?

Re: Matrix dilemma?
That sounds correct as far as passing signal. One thing that you will want to do is solo that matrix if you are mixing two mics from the same cabinet and make sure that you are getting what you want. If you are adding both mics into a mono bus, you are gonna get into some comb filtering. Proceed with caution on this and be aware of this potential.

Re: Matrix dilemma?
Yes, that is the correct way of doing that. I am actually doing the above scenario but for a drums stem and using the PQ mixer to send to the Aviom. Works well...except for the musicians all want a different mix. I just have to go by what the drummer wants.
