Playback stops abuptly

Hi everyone,

I've actually seen this issue on an HD system, but don't recall the fix. Perhaps someone can remind me.

I have PTLE on a Windows machine....when I push the space bar to initiate playback, I see the playback triangle light up, then the stop button lights up immediately...and playback stops (no sound is heard, it happens that fast). The same thing happens when I use the cursor on the playback button itself.

About 2 out of 5 times playback starts normally.

Any ideas? Like I've said, I saw this problem once before about 6 years ago, but I don't remember what we did to fix it.

Any ideas?

I glanced through these threads and have determined..that since folks are having this issue with a variety of computers, drives, settings...and many, many solutions are being offered, that no one yet really knows what's causing this.

So much of this seems like 'shot in the dark' suggestions.

For what it's worth, I restarted my machine and the problem has disappeared.

I'll go back to lurking until someone has another idea.
