Default vocal thickness

does any one have any suggestions on thinning a vocal so it still has body but is not over present?

Boost the low mids 250 - 500 by a little (3-6db)and about 12k by the same. Also try compressing the vocals so you have about 6db of reduction but only boost the output by about 3db. If worst comes to worst use Maxim if you have it. [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

I ended up using a C4 and toned down the pop vocal preset. Worked great! Thanks

C4 (and C1 using the filter section) have made life much easier for me in regard to these kinds of issues, but I still can't usually get away with finding a single "magic setting" and letting the vocal glide through it for the entire song. There always seem to be a few syllables or phrases with a more pronounced proximity effect that need to be trimmed a little more below 400Hz or so. But using C4 has definitely cut down on the number of those kinds of manual EQ adjustments. Another area where C4 really shines is creating a consistent presence in vocals and lead instruments while shaving off piercing, ear-fatiguing presence peaks. One heck of a tool.
