AAE Error 6

First time I've encountered this issue. As soon as I hit play AAE Error 6 comes out....anyone else having this issue?

I have got the same problem. As soon I play a soundtrack the error message comes AAE error 6

Consolidating all the audio and removing the unused files from session solve it for me !

Yeah, that solves it.... until the next time it occurs. And it should be unnecessary to consolidate clips to get Pro Tools to without error. Does anyone know what causes the error and what the error code means? Does anyone from Pro Tools dev ever read these threads?

I had this exact same problem although my setup was a bit different. I actually never had the problem on 8 or 11 but as soon as I upgraded to 12 it was all downhill. I don't know if it was App Manager botched updates, old firmware on my SSD drive, or simply my Mbox 2 Pro being too old for 12.

In the end, I resolved the issue by completely reformatting my system drive with a fresh Windows 7 install and reverting to 11.3.1.

I am also having trouble with this when i try to bounce it to another track it records it then it stops and it says AAE 6 Playback error can anyone help me? I have pro tools 12 with a HP laptop with Windows 8, a Scarlet 18i20 interface and a toshiba 1TB hard drive

My ritual when these errors start nailing me is towards the end of this thread. 3rd to the last post, #18. Hopefully this helps some. These are sometimes needle in a haystack things.

Hi certainly frustrating i been there a lot of times . If you tried evertlything mentioned .

Clear wave cache file

Verify that your sound card isnt selected in windows CP while runing PT etc


Try this 2 things last .

Unistall pace interlock . Donwload the lastest version and run the clear leftovers app included . And reinstall it .

If the issue still then go to the unpackage files that you downloaded above from ilok and go to the OLD INSTALER folder run the exe inside on top of installation and reboot .

This trick with the old installers on ilok package have solved some issues on my system .

Since then i didnt see the Error 6 anymore same sessions same PC .

I've been solving this by opening the session (and saving) in an older version. Then reopening in the version I choose to use. This seems to work for me.
