V1.2 ipad 1 crashes

I had to use Scotch on ipad 1 yesterday. It was opening simple 1 page lead sheets with chords above a melody line (some older Sibelius files dating back to 2004.) After about 8 had opened, it would crash. I presume this is a memory thing as it happened regularly after a few songs each time.
