Oktava Mics?
Hi,
just wondered if anybody uses Oktava mics. Especially the MC012. I checked the recently ongoing threads about mics, but didn´t find anything about the Oktava. They are Russian microphones and I heard they suposed to be pretty good for the price. Thanks for any replys, Tjkili

Re: Oktava Mics?
they are pretty good for the price, me thinks, but their quality is fairly inconsistent. if you buy one (or some) check out as many as you can and take the one that you think sounds best.
other alternative could be Rode? ~matt |

Re: Oktava Mics?
I have one wide diaphram and two of the small. Never had any complaints.

Re: Oktava Mics?
I bought the 219 before I could afford a better condenser for vocals (Audix CX111). It is an ok mic, but not one that I would use on a regular basis.
The 012 is a good small diaphram mic and I use it in a stereo configuration, one positioned at the 12th fret and one toward the end of the guitar and pointed at the sound hole. I am very happy with the sound for both steel string and nylon string acoustic guitar. As mentioned earlier, check them out carefully before you take them home. If you are looking for a mathed pair do a search on the internet an you will find a site that sells only the best quality Oktavas imported to the States...(if you are in the States). |

Re: Oktava Mics?
Thanks for the replys.
Unfortunaly I´m not in the States (I´m from Germany) and theres no shop around where I live and where I could try them out. I found a nice Web Site www.oktava.com who sells a pair of MC012 with 3 capsules. Can´t decide to get these or to look for some diffrent other small diaphragm condensers. Any suggestions maybe? Re: Oktava Mics?
hey man. i have a pair of AKG c1000s condensers and i'm in love with them. they are versatile. i've gotten good sounds on piano, acoustic guitar, and strings, snare drum, tympani. check out those, as low as $150 a piece. but more likely $200 a piece.

Re: Oktava Mics?
Have a pair of the 012, the kit with 3 capsule each. Use them for location recording and play around for string sound, they are cool and pretty clean. They are great for all kinds of application but remember you get what you pay for.

Re: Oktava Mics?
I have a pair of mc012's that I like alot. I use them as mainly as stereo overheads and for acoustic guitar. I've been very pleased. I've also tried them on male falsetto parts and was very happy.

I think I´ll just go for the Oktavas. Found an Online-Shop in Germany which have them for sale at a reasonable price. Tjkili
