Default Drum Sound Replacement/Restoration

I'm looking for some guidance from the "restoration" folks here on the DUC.

I've got some 4 year old tracks from a band that is unable to play again for various reasons, but some of the drum sessions were recorded horribly, mostly the kick drum.

I have 6.4LE and the full version of Reason and that new Reason Drum Kits Refill.

Is there anyway to trigger the drums sounds in reason? Is soundreplacer worth $400?

It seems like there should be some way to key off a gate on the existing kick to tell reason to play a sample.

I realize I can do the brute force method and play along with it, but it seems like with all this horsepower and other tools, I should be able to use a plug-in or audiosuite thing.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks!

If you only need to do it for this one session, why not use the soundreplacer demo?

If you have the VST-RTAS wrapper, you might want to try apptrigga.

I could do that. And if I need it again, just rent it for a couple of days.

Thanks!
