Default expending PTLE 002 from 8 input to 18 input

Hi, I'm new here, I'm seriously looking into getting a PTLE 002 system and someone told me that I could expand the number of simultaneous input recording track to 16 or 18, currently the system can only record 8 track at once. Any ideas on which I/O expension hardware I should be looking at and what you be the cost? What would be the ultimate setup?

This is such a FAQ that I"m surprised they haven't actually made it a FAQ.

I have a list with links on a help page on my website. The most popular 8 channel unit is probably the Digimax LT.

The main decision lies with you; are you looking for quality or price?

The ultimate setup (IMHO) would be a rosetta 800 and a rosetta 200, but that'll run you about $4500. And then you would need mic preamps to go with them...

Thanks man, yes I'm looking for best for the money basically, so right now I think I have two options, Digimax 96 and Octopre, which both also have limiter, actually the focusrite look the best of the two and since focusrite have been doing this for a while, I would go with them, which is around $1000 including the extra card.

Digimax 96 has no use if you are after 96 Khz. The adat-connection on the 002/002r supports up to 48 Khz. But maybe that Digimax has other features that make it more interesting....

hey... I'm also thinkign of getting more inputs.. but not for voice recording, there sole purpose will be for outboard effects. Can you use both the Optical and the s/pdif at the same time? I thought you have to choose one. If not thats even better news... I can have 10 ins and outs dedicated to my outboard effects... with the option to use all of them to record... Thats awesome.(if thats how it is). ANd since I'm only going to you them for outboard effects which would you suggest.. since i'll be going for cheaper with all the ins and outs in the back of the unit. Thanks

Jonny
