Default ADAT->PT->ADAT in sync

I have several clients who have brought me ADAT tapes from other studios which we need to odub onto, then have all of the odubs added to the original ADATS. The ADATs do not have songs setup via the BRC. How would you xfer from ADAT->PT, do the session and then xfer back ->ADAT in sync? Should I set up songs on the BRC and go song by song? Should I treat the whole ADAT tape as a session? Should I set the song for the xfer starting at ADAT 0 so I have relative SMPTE for the whole tape? BTW- I have PT mix plus, 3 adats, 1 888/24, 2 bridge I/o, and a USD. and a procontrol

Look into the MOTU DTP. It will allow you to synch PT, SMPTE, ADAT, DA88, MTC, Video. Any format can be master, and you don't need SY88 for DA88. This is theory to me however, since I do have a DTP, but haven't been able to get it to work yet. (haven't tried very hard though, it's new)

Will;
You have all the equipment for what you want to do. Treat each song as it's own session, it's much easier to look at and faster to load the file. Of course, you are syncing via SMPTE, with ProTools acting as the master clock source (the ADAT's are slaves) for both the transfer in and back. Send SMPTE via the USD to the BRC.....etc. In prefs in PT 4.3.1 there is an option to record online at time code lock or at insert point. I find "at timecode lock' is most headache free for this kind of thing.

Digi claims +/- 1 sample accuracy for ADAT sync when using a BRC with the USD. If this isn't good enough then the only solutions I found which claimed to be sample accurate were the MOTU 2408, and the Alesis ADAT/Edit, though in both cases there would be an additional conversion step in moving the data into and out of pro tools, which sucks.
