My Mac Pro Dante Clock status not in synch. I'm getting a red light. I've tried to figure out what is going on but I'm at a stand still. I got a new Mac Pro but besides that the only thing I'm doing differently then my setup before is that I have a new gigabit switcher. Dante Controller see's it so I thought things were fine but I can never get synch. I have a MTRX studio that is Dante and is in synch and a Lynx Hilo that is Dante and is all in synch. I switched out my ethernet and put in directly from the Mac into the apple express which is how I had it before and I'm still getting the same error so the only thing different at this point is the computer. So I'm at a loss to try and figure out what to do.

Are you using the built in ethernet adapter with DVS?
There is a known problem with built in ethernet- the work around is to use a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.

I'm not using any adaptor. I initially had both my Mac Pro and MTRX plugged into a gigabit switch. Then I switched to have the Mac Pro plugged into an Apple Extreme, then I plugged the MTRX directly into the Mac Pro and none of those scenarios have worked so far

Which is why it isn't working.

DVS doesn't reliably work with internal ethernet on Mac at the moment for many people.

https://www.audinate.com/learning/fa...tual-soundcard

There are a couple of potential issues.
If the problem is 'synch unlocked' then read this:

Quote:
Due to a change in the OS X networking stack since OS X 10.13, we have found that our multicast clock traffic can be interfered with on some Mac OS systems, resulting in DVS periodically losing sync with the master clock. We are working on a resolution for this in the next DVS release. We have not observed any impact on the audio.

A workaround for this issue is to use an adapter such as USB or Thunderbolt to Ethernet instead of the built-in network port.
If the issue is "Mac OSX shows ‘Listening’ under the Clock Status tab in Dante Controller" then there is this workaround:

Quote:
In some Mac OS X and switch configurations (notably in OS X 10.13) IGMP snooping can interfere with PTP traffic to the computer’s network interface. This can prevent DVS achieving PTP sync with the network, which in turn prevents reliable audio transmission.

The easiest solution is to ‘Forward All’ multicast to the Mac. In effect, that disables IGMP snooping for that port. However, assuming the Mac has a Gigabit port, you should be fine.

I appreciate the advice but I don't see anywhere in my router where I can set it to multicast. I've also tried a thunderbolt to ethernet connection and my Dante Virtual Soundcard doesn't even see an address even though there is an address in my network settings and I'm able to get on the internet via hard wire. There has to be a way to fix this because as of now I'm down with a brand new Mac Pro.

What router are you using?
Is it Dante certified?

You aren't 'setting it to Multicast'.
The advice above is for a specific problem and needs to be done properly, if that is the precise fault you have.
If the above information doesn't make sense, and I mean complete sense then I wouldn't suggest poking around in the network to see if you can happen upon a solution.
I've seen people try to do that and it almost always never works.
Have you considered getting a local networking consultant in to check over your network?

It doesn't matter than the you can get an internet connection- Dante has its own requirements and if you aren't satisfying all of them then you might have issues.

Have you considered using a secondary audio card for native/system sounds and piping it into the MTRX digitally?

I have a netgear nighthawk which I have an apple extreme plugged into then into a gigabit switch. It all worked fine before I got a new Mac. Nothing has changed in my setup except the new Mac.

Also, when I use a thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor my DVS never sees an IP address even though I am able to get online. I've tried multiple ports and nothing.

I mispoke- I meant the switch.
Which switch are you using?
Make and model please.

FWIW, I also use an AirPort Extreme between the router and my switches.
But my switches are Dante compatible.

My switch is an HP 1920 which I was told is Dante compatible. Either way, during all this I took my switch out of the loop and just plugged the Mac into the extreme and the MTRX into the Mac and it didn't work so it's not the switch unfortunately. Someone mentioned to me that the Mac Pro 10 gig ethernet ports are not compatible with Dante. I'm not sure if that is true. Either way, how come when I plug my thunderbolt to ethernet into my Mac and get internet the DVS doesn't see an IP? Ugh
