Default Plugin Load Times??

Hey guys, not sure if there is a definite answer for my question but, my Pro Tools usually takes about 3-5 minutes to load upon turning on my computer. I have a ton of plug-ins (RTAS & VST), and I noticed it really takes some time loading the Waves plug-in's waveshells. I'm running version 7.3.1cs LE on a Dell Precision Intel Xeon Dual Core 5120 @ 1.86GHz 2 GB RAM, and have no time issues once inside the program. Any reason for this waiting time, or is it just normal with Waves and numerous plugs. I noticed working on my friends Imac who's running 7.4, his is lightning fast, but barely has many plugs. What do you guys think??

Yes, the more plug-ins you have, the longer it takes PTLE to load. However, the most recent Waves version (6) seems to load a lot faster and there seems to have been improvements with both PTLE 7.4 and 8.

Hope this helps,
Greg

yeah, it takes my computer about 90 seconds to start PT. it takes the loading of plugs too much time as well. your computer is faster than mine but takes longet to load? I'm on a Pent 4 3.4 gHz 2 gigs ram. I have waves diamond and a ton of others as well as wrapped plugs.

reaper and podium programs load instantly and my plugs with those programs load instantly. they both have way less demand on the cpu, i mean WAY less. i gotta think it is coding?

i really like PT, it really suits my tastes.....guess i will live with the glitches for now.

As Greg M said, uprade to Waves 6. The plug-ins seem to load MUCH faster. Also, I try to only load plugs that I actually use often. If you move the plugs you don't use often to the unused folder, you can quickly get 'em back by moving them into the right folder and a re-start of PT should you need them.
