Default 1394 Error

Ever since I got the 6.4cs9 update, I keep losing connection between my 002 rack and Pro Tools... after a few minutes of working in a session, the 1394 led will start blinking (on my 002 rack) and Pro Tools freezes up? Ussually goes along with a H/W Buffer error. What can I do to fix this problem?

Also, since I got the 6.4cs9 update, a message at startup tells me that I'm not current with my firmware? The computer that uses Pro Tools is not connected to the internet, so is there somewhere I can download the latest firmware and load it onto that computer from a CD? Could that be a reason causing the above problem with the loss of connection? Thank you--

*I've bought a new Belkin Firewire Card, but it did not correct the problem.

1. You don't need to be connected to the internet to update your firmware.. it's an upload from the computer via the 1394 network card.

2. Which FireWire card do you have installed and have the 002 hooked up to? If it's not on the approved list, then get an Adaptec 4300.

3. If the above don't help you may have a faulty 002 power harness.

This was Digidesign's tech support email back to me reguarding the problem. It's clear what they want me to do, but VERY unclear what the heck the problem is???

Hi,

You should contact tech support via telephone to set up an RA. They can
arrange to have you send it in or send you a repair kit that you you can
install your self. Call them at 650 731-6100 they will be happy to assist
you. Be sure to select to speak to someone about a repair.

Best regards,

They jumped to Rail's #3 conclusion.
