Default MBOX PRO > thunderbolt 3 > WIN10 issue

So i finally manage to make that magic work!

Firewire to thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 (the trio adapters that weren't really cheap I must say)

In pro tools, everything works smoothly on 48khz, but for some reason, when choosing the MBOX as the audio device for windows, the sound comes out for 3 seconds then just shuts off... what could it possibly be? it also have the same issue in adobe audition.

I have tried to change the sample rate/buffer size, and all the settings i can find, but nothing seems working. Really been scratching my head around this one. did anyone encounter this issue?

My MINI MBOX always worked smoothly of course.

im on windows 10 64bit.

EDIT: i just noticed that only if pro tools is open, windows can read the mbox pro! (i can play youtube files).. Only set to 44100khz thou

Best practice for Windows setups is to set Windows to use the on-board sound card as the "default Playback Device", which leaves the interface(M-Box) to be controlled by Pro Tools exclusively. The simple/cheap solution to playing other sounds(WMP, Youtube, etc) thru your monitors is to add a small(cheap) mixer to your setup. All you need is 2 stereo line inputs(1 set for the M-Box outputs and the other set for the soundcard output). This is a suitable option on a budget:

Another option is to add a monitor/source selector like the Presonus Monitor Station 2, Audient Nero or similar. Yes that's a lot more money, but having used a Presonus central Station for years, I can't live without it(or similar). A real plus is that some of these allow you to connect the computer via a digital SPDIF connection(which sounds 100 times better than the mini TRS analog output)

Thanks for the reply!

Yes i am thinking of getting a tiny mixer and just rest my mind cz i've been pulling my hair trying to get a workaround for days.

Thought this mbox wuld be able to do all that work since it can also be used as a standalone :/
