Record problem, signal stuck at -8db!

Ok, I already have used this protools on my computer for like 1 year, then all of a sudden I got this problem, for no reason, I was ready to record a track, then I was positioning my microphone, and then when I pressed record the signal stuck at like -8db, I hear no sound, but its there, frozen at -8db, I can't record, and if I do so, all I get is a 'stucked -8db wave with no sound', I already tried to: reset pc, re-install protools, unplug and then plug again my m-audio, all those basic stuff.

Are you still having this problem? I see you posted this last month. What type of recording hardware are you using? I'm assuming your using an M-Audio product. And also, what are your recording and playback settings? What is the buffer settings? Is your sound card set to the same sample rate/bit depth as PT?
