Default OK To Do Apple Security Updates?

Is it OK to do Apple security updates to 10.4.8 with 7.2?

10.4.8 has lots of airport problems so I'd avoid it. Fine for PT though.

Not 100% sure, but it seems like it blew my "Video out Firewire" (Canopus) feature. Arggh.

Not sure about Security updates, but once you already have updated the OS, I always make sure that I install the related Security updates to be safe.

However, since others are bringing up issues with 10.4.8, I noticed some USB problems, which others on Apple's Support Discussions are also having only after upgrading to 10.4.8. Our issues were primarily with digital cameras and iPhoto causing freezing to many USB devices, so I don't know if this will affect anything else, but its worth mentioning here just in case.
