Source Live

I remember this topic some time recently and for $395 this might be a cool plug-in to get.

I use isight to do session with someone in other country,

-or open the stream in their favourite media player - and listen immediately-

This might be very cool tool but how about the sound quality?

Here is the info I forgot to post in my first note

Source-Live: Stream Your Session To Clients in Realtime
Source-Elements LLC, makers of Source-Connect, have announced the release of a brand new plug-in called Source-Live. Source-Live enables users to stream the output of their Pro Tools mix to multiple listeners simultaneously. Pro Tools users simply e-mail listeners a Live-link and the listeners, utilizing common media player software such as Quicktime, immediately connect to the stream in real time from anywhere in the world. Utilizing the most current AAC/mp4 codec, Source-Live provides listeners with true 24 bit audio quality. Real-time ‘listener management’ and password protection within the plug-in allows users to control of who’s listening in on the session. Source-Live’s ‘Live-to-File’ feature makes generating mp4 files and podcasting a snap. In addition to session monitoring, Source-Live can also be used to stream live events to a streaming server for true internet radio capabilities.

John Binder, cofounder of Source Elements, states “Source- Live is an excellent complement to Source-Connect, our bi-directional low latency studio to studio connection plug-in. It allows multiple clients in different locations to easily listen to sessions with far better quality than a phone patch.” Robert Marshall, cofounder of Source Elements adds, “Source-Live changes the workflow of many productions by eliminating the need to email or ftp audio files for approvals. It allows for real time approvals, without setting up a complicated streaming server. Everything is taken care of directly within Source-Live!”

Owners of Source-Live will be able to customize a browser based Quicktime GUI for branding and advertising opportunities.

Source-Live is compatible with Pro Tools Version 7 (Mac and Windows), and is slated for release in February, 2006 at a price of $395 USD. Go to www.source-live.com for additional pricing and product details.

Cool. Thank you.

One of rig of my company uses G5 and G4 to run HD accel and Mix plus(Logic 7) with 2 ADAT bridges+apogee AD8000.
Using microphone (like AKG414) on one of ProTools to talk through isight gets much better sound than mic of isight.

But it is always mono track to monitor the sound of the session.

This plug in might be a must for us.

Thanks again for the info.

I see.
Reviewing "Home" above shows stereo meter but "> click for full expanded view " shows mono meter.
Bit confusing but it must be stereo.. I hope.

You can Do Podcasts pretty easy it's still an U/l d/l load thing. I have never needed to stream a mix live. I use Digidelivery and just send a mix via the server and the client can get a full uncompressed .wav file. There are just too many options for free or next to free options even iDisk or the similar internet vitual disc's can give clients download of a high quality file a lot cheaper.
